Futaisi Island

The Futaisi Island is located 5000m from the island of Abu Dhabi. The island is owned privately by Sheik Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan. Since then, the island has become one of the well-known historical islands in the region. It shows evidence that dates backs more than hundreds of years. Before oil was discovered in Futaisi, the island was believed to supply sweet water to the people of Abu Dhabi as well as stones use to build forts and houses. It also features one authentic structure that’s built from old and conventional mud bricks, known as the Arabian Fort. Apart from its historical importance, the island is home to free galloping gazelles.
